Energy and Emotional Wellness Connection

Energy not only refers to what we can observe in the outside world but includes what we feel on the inside as well.

In the western world, we study and give great value to the outside energy while ignoring the subtle energy within us. The truth is every physical movement of the body, our thoughts, and our emotions are also expenditures of energy.

For example, if you’re concentrating on a thought and another one interferes, you have to exert some amount of energy to block it out, which requires energy from the mind.

The same is true for our emotions.

Now imagine experiencing a significant loss or heartbreak. You might feel your energy fade quickly after receiving this information, want to sleep more, eat less, and generally lose interest in your day-to-day life. Now Imagine suddenly receiving amazingly good news like a job offer or hearing from a long-lost love.

How would you feel now?

You would probably jump up, take a shower, and rush into action with a renewed sense of being. The joy of life would likely return to all that you do almost instantaneously. We can’t just ignore these shifts in energy, and if we dive a little deeper, we will notice that we have unlimited amounts of this energy available to us that has nothing to do with how much sleep we get or what we eat.

So, where does this energy come from?

Within our bodies, we have energy centers called chakras, and this is where our energy is stored. The heart chakra is responsible for regulating our love and compassion, emotional well-being, and the capacity for giving and receiving this love. When we experience certain negative feelings and emotions, we block the flow of energy in this center.

Sometimes it is conscious because we want to protect ourselves, but it can also be unconscious as well. We may have put barriers to this energy in place as a result of past experiences or based on what we feel we deserve. If you have been someone that has not allowed yourself to feel any negative emotions because they were just too painful, this can also block your heart chakra. But just because we ignore them doesn’t mean they go away or don’t affect us energetically.

What we resist persists, and if this energy is stored for too long, it can have damaging effects, even turning into physical manifestations.

Reiki healing energy can help us to unblock our energy centers, and also allow for a release of all the emotions that have been stuck within us. It helps us to hold the energetic space to allow us to feel any emotions at all. It also can stimulate our chakras to increase the flow of energy not only in that chakra but to the rest of the body as well.

It has been shown that when our energy is high and flowing to all areas of the body, we experience increased emotional and physical well-being and stress relief, and it also turns on the body’s natural healing response. Reiki can be a wonderful complementary treatment to any medical treatment or therapy already in place.
