What is Complementary Care?

Complementary Care is a combination of Standard (Western) Medical treatments and Alternative (Eastern) Care.

Medicine Net Defines Complementary Care as:
A group of diagnostic and therapeutic disciplines that are used together with standard or conventional medicine.

Complementary Care vs. Alternative Medicine

Complementary Care is different from alternative medicine as it marries these two different practices to create a perfect marriage. For example, acupuncture to help ease chemotherapy’s side effects while undergoing cancer treatments is an example of how Complementary Care can be used to help lessen the side effects of standard treatments by adding a layer of support and giving you back your power of choice.

Whereas complementary Care is used together with conventional medicine, alternative medicine is used in place of standard medicine.

An example of an alternative therapy where western medicine is not included is using a special diet to treat cancer instead of undergoing surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy that has been recommended by a Standard practice.

The Power of Complementary Care

Mixing these two types of services in Western and Eastern medicine is a powerful tool in supporting an individual emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Where Complementary Care will marry two different therapies for example acupuncture to help ease chemotherapy’s side effects while undergoing cancer treatments is an example of how Complementary Care can be used to help lessen the side effects of standard treatments by adding a layer of support and give you back your power of choice.

Complementary Care helps us own our wellness by encouraging us to play an active role in prevention, support, and recovery. Our wellness is personal, and Complementary Care gives us some control in an otherwise uncontrollable situation -by allowing us to create a protocol that will help meet our individual needs.
