What is Spiritual Wellness

The National Center for Emotional Wellness refers to Emotional Wellness as an awareness, understanding, and acceptance of our emotions and our ability to manage effectively through challenges and change.

When we can learn to tune into our feelings, we can connect with our minds and bodies. The more connected we become with our minds and bodies, the more reliable our understanding of our emotions becomes, and the more confident we are in our life choices.

Emotional Wellness encourages us to slow down and live in the current moment.

Emotional Wellness doesn’t necessarily mean that you do not have bad days, but that you have self-awareness and able to shift your internal thought process so your not experiencing long term negative feelings.

Emotional wellness leads us to seek a happier and fulfilled life by leading us to live within our full potential.

Emotional Wellness is all about embracing the good and the bad and learning how to deal or cope with our growth, Attitudes, Self- Awareness, and Self-Acceptance.

Here are five questions to ask yourself to see where you are at in your Emotional Wellness Journey:

  1. Do I recognize my emotions and understand them?
  2. Do I recognize that my emotions have a positive or negative influence on my relationships?
  3. Do I focus on the positives of life?
  4. Can I see that like me, everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and I don’t judge them or myself for them?
  5. Can I see I am an individual with my own life journey?

Remember that Emotional Wellness is a lifelong process and not a goal you reach and no longer need to work at. Learning coping strategies like:

  • Meditation
  • Journaling
  • Listening to music/dancing
  • Art
  • Exercise
  • Talking to a therapist/coach

Strategies like the ones above are great tools to help you to start creating growth and strength in your Emotional Wellness Journey and help point you in the direction of finding true fulfillment in your life.
